Diarrhea is
a condition where a person has loose, watery stools. Such a diseased person may
pass stools more than three come a day. Acute diarrhea is the common form which
may last for 1 or 2 days. It does not, generally, require any specific care and
goes away as it is. When it continues for more than 2 days and shows no signs
of abating, it is a problem and needs forthcoming tended to. It may make the
person severely dehydrated. It may result in chronic diarrhea.
When a
person has diarrhea, they are at a risk of being severely dehydrated. Then the
body cannot function properly. This is particularly dangerous in infants and
young children. Statistics say that in the United States, by the age of five,
each child would have had about seven to fifteen episodes of diarrhea.
Diarrhea may
be because using several reasons. Infection through bacteria such as
Escherichia coli, Salmonella, viruses such as herpes or parasites like Entamoeba histolytica is some of the
common causes. In children there may also be food intolerance such as not
support digest milk.
They are generally preferred as they can be effectively used to cure the causes
of the disease. Only when the diarrhea does not finish, should mainstream
medicine be used. There are several herbal treatments for diarrhea. The person
should be constantly supplied with drinks such as fruit juices to replenish the
water lost in the system. Drinking a glass of fruit juice with the pinch of
salt helps, as does having honey or a teaspoon or sugar in it.
